Favorite Molly Things Season 3
3/5 Mind Palace Appearance

I just love this scene, and not just because she features heavily in his mind palace. This scene says a lot about how Sherlock views these people, how, based on his instincts, he expects them to react like when he is injured and in need of help. And Molly isn’t defined by her feelings for him, he sees her as someone professional. You don’t see her worry about Sherlock, you don’t see her frightened, you only see a moment of her typical quirkiness at the beginning (‘It’s not like it is in the movies.’). And he doesn’t just see her as someone clever (which we could already notice in TEH when he invites her to solve cases). She was perhaps the one who helped him the most in guiding his thought process – apart from Mycroft, but he seemed less willing to help, he still tries to teach Sherlock and makes fun of him when he gets it wrong. (This isn’t necessarily what Mycroft is like, but it is what Sherlock expects from him. No great show of emotions, just patronising logic.) Molly is the first one to come to his aid, and that shows an extraordinary amount of trust. She can and has helped him in the past (‘What do you need?’ ‘You.’), she can concentrate in tight situations, which is vital to him at that moment (‘Focus!’), she is perceptive and asks the right questions (‘You look sad when you think he can’t see you.’ / ‘So come on, what’s going to kill you?’) and she is one of those very, very few people who can make him listen (‘You always say such horrible things…’ / ‘Sorry your engagement’s over (…)’ ‘Stop it. Just stop it.’ / ‘I said… focus.’)
