We live in a society where the only public art we’re exposed to is the stuff that government officials allow to be displayed. There is no feasible way that I can creatively express myself on a large scale without being rich and famous first. Spray painting is the only way I can leave my mark on the world while I’m still an adolescent, and possibly the only way I can inspire people. Not only that, but I’m creating an art piece! A landmark! It’s my hometown, who is better suited to paint it than someone who’s lived there their whole life?
YEAH!! DO IT, FISH! You deserve to have your voice heard! Show us your art that you work so hard to spread to the world! We support you!
A witch puts a spell on a girl, a sleeping spell that promises the girl shall wake through true love’s kiss. Men come and kiss her. She slumbers. Women come and press their lips to hers, but still she sleeps. Many years past, and the girl remains still. One bright morning, a lost little boy finds her resting spot and clears the dust and grime from her face. He offers her a kiss on her forehead, and her eyes flutter open. She never feels romantic love for a man nor a woman, and she cares for the boy until the day she dies.
A young woman is imprisoned in a castle by a monstrously formed prince. The servants of the castle hope for them to fall in love, and when the spell is broken they assume their prayers have been answered. They are all surprised, but nonetheless pleased, when it is revealed to them that the young woman and prince are the truest of friends, and nothing more.
They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen, a woman who is incapable of loving. She is unmarried, she has no consorts, and she wishes for no partner. She is the wretched queen, the heartless queen. She must hate her daughter, for her daughter is beautiful, and women are incapable of liking another woman who’s prettier than themselves. It must be for this reason that the princess was sent away, not for how she was attacked by a man in the woods. They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen because she cannot love. The queen loves her daughter, and that is enough for them both.
There lives a prince who is forced to choose a bride at the ball. He meets many beautiful women, but find none which he loves. He spies one in a gorgeous gown and wonder in her eyes, and he dances with her all night long. The kingdom is sure he has found his bride. When the clock strikes midnight he tells her how he will never love a woman, or a man, in the way he is expected to. The beautiful woman smiles and tells him she expects nothing from him. The next morning the prince and the beautiful woman are missing, having run off together to see the world. They leave their shoes behind in their haste.
Many kinds of love exist. It doesn’t all have to be romantic.
kind of tempted to leave a review every time i go through someone’s ff.net/ao3 and reread everything but i also dont want to freak people out with the wave of emails
Please for the love of god do this. In the last… oh, I don’t know, seven-ish years since I first discovered fandom, the culture has made a huge shift. It used to be that, whether you yourself wrote any fic or not, you reviewed every goddamn chapter of every goddamn fic that you read. Usually in detail. And plenty of people (myself included, at times) would leave a review on every chapter even if there were already twenty or thirty chapters in the fic before I ever stumbled upon it.
But we’ve moved away from that. Now, plenty of authors (particularly those who aren’t Big Name Fans) practically have to beg for reviews to get even a small amount of acknowledgement, and that’s not fair. The SE fandom is better about it than plenty of others I’ve been in, but we’re not immune either.
So if you wanna go all out and leave ALL OF THE REVIEWS… I say do it.
D O IT
I’LL JOIN YOU
i do this quite often when i read good multichapters and boy the reactions from the authors are the BEST. They may not answer to each of my thirty comments but they are so freakin HYPED you wouldn’t believe.
And yeah i felt a bit awkward and stalkerish at first too but there’s absolutely NO REASON to feel that way, seriously. Just comment whenever you want to, on each reread, on each chapter, whenever. Seriously.
I would be absolutely overjoyed by this there is nothing happier than waking up to like a dozen reviews cus someones gone “Ima review all these!” seriously we crave this shit
👀👀👀
Seriously. Best feeling. Nice spam reviews from an appreciative reader? I LIVE.
Feedback is the lifeblood of the writer, it’s what validates their work in the world and brightens their day. I can only echo what was already said, but yeah, it’s the best dang feeling ever! Please, freak people out with the wave of emails, do it! Nobody hates this.
