not to be like controversial but ancient depictions of womanhood ring truest in all of history’s portrayal of women, the rest is just tainted and fetishized by the male gaze
this is mostly my hot take but a lot of ancient female figures aren’t given a fixed narrative, they exist as they are (body size and all) and exude this power that isn’t attributed to what we typically refer to as “femininity” today. but times goes on and not only is the art world dominated by men but the female body also becomes an object of fetishization and what we have now are the characteristics that men attribute to women (the mother, the whore, the virgin etc archetypes are created). and even in women’s depiction of women, we aren’t completely free of the voyeur(men) that lurks inside our minds. basically there’s no going back now and all we can do is appreciate these figurines with severely poppin titties.
