Expanding on the question from before ( @crossroadscastiel this might inteeest you 🙂 ) Hugh thinks that the reason or part of the reason Will might’ve not realized it was love before and the “is he in love with me, etc.” question came so late is because understandably he never associated Hannibal with his idea of love and also not because Will didn’t feel it, but because it was so dirty and dark and he actually thought that /Hannibal/ was incapable of love, and Will was probably even ashamed of what he was feeling

just the thought of Will being, as usual, split between the moral and good side of him making him feel ashamed that he’s capable of feeling love for a monster in the face of everything horrible that this monster does, and the twisted side of him realizing that Hannibal is simply not wired to feel love and implying there that this side of him isn’t worried about the morality of it all and just wishes Hannibal could feel it too… and then against all odds Hannibal HAS fallen for him, which is terrible news but since Will obviously reciprocates, is also, like… help
